Regarding direct team-members (residents, interns, attendings), students reported that specific, individually-directed feedback is infrequent. It was further reported that student notes on patients are typically signed by interns/residents who do not read them and/or simply do not provide verbal or written comments.
Is this a problem, and if so how gravid? Do students fail to solicit it or do instructors fail to provide it? Should there be scheduled "feedback time" or should students simply ask more often?
As suggested by the "defining roles"
thread, resident-student time for 15 minutes before rounds may provide an opportunity for feedback on progress notes.
