The CLIPP cases are a required portion of the Pediatrics clerkship. As a stand-alone module, CLIPP are intended to be a comprehensive curriculum in Pediatrics for third-year students. Right now we only have to do 15 of these.
The faculty are considering making all CLIPP cases mandatory. This will be counter-balanced by removing some other work requirement, most likely eliminating the essay questions from the exam. From the point of view of learning, it may be argued that CLIPP provides a more comprehensive exposure than the existing combination.
Keeping in mind the goal of objectivity in evaluation (with which we struggle in the clerkship year), eliminating the essay portion of the exam would make the exam portion of your clerkship grade entirely objective.
Because the essay questions are currently part of the exam grade, your constructive input is highly sought.
